Valheim: Mistlands First Experiences (Spoilers?)
Just to demonstrate that I completely lack focus, a computer game review.
Made my first real intrusion into the Mistlands. It’s still early, so many of the regular online sources of information are still incomplete. Had to scan many different sources to piece together urgently needed information.
I made an earlier incursion into my new Mistlands neighborhood. Got as far as one of the giant petrified skeletons, which is a source of the critical new stone prouct, and met one of the worst enemies available first, a Seeker Soldier. This resulted in losing the use of my only elemental melee weapon—Frostner—Draugr Fang, and my maxed out Plains padded armor and Blackmetal weapons.
Research indicated that Seekers are vulnerable to elemental damage. Now wearing Wolf/Silver armor and using Iron weapons, I killed four regular Seekers (new flying insectoid monsters) and a Seeker Soldier (pretty much a literal tank). Had to run from another Seeker after I ran out of arrows Since I lost track of Frostner and Draugr Fang, I was limited to Frost Arrows and a less powerful, non-poisonous bow. Also had some help from unintentionally allied Lox.
Trying to get back to the earlier corpse, I got into a running battle with the Soldier out into the Plains for several miles that lasted through the night, occasionally entraining Lox and Fulings. I "borrowed" a stone border fort from the Fulings and just managed to put the Soldier down before it was completely gone. It was reminiscent of the early days fighting Trolls with deer hide and flint head arrows, even with much more advanced weapons and armor.
The Mistlands isn’t going to be quick or easy, which is just as well.
